A few weeks ago, I was trying to install a GSI on my Galaxy A20e and wondered how I could obtain the vendor.img of my device. It seemed very complicated and I could hardly find how to do it. So I’m gonna explain it in this article.
Step 1: Download the firmware for your phone (We will extract the vendor.img from this firmware)
To download the firmware, I recommend you samfw.com, wich is free and accountless while allowing fast downloads.
Step 2: uncompress the firmware file (if you do not have installed a tool that can do this, I recommend Ark, made by KDE, that does the job very well). You are not forced to uncompress everything. I made this little table with files and their contents:
| File | AP | BL | CP | CSC | HOME |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Images contained | dt dtbo recovery system userdata vbmeta vendor |
cm param sboot vbmeta |
modem modem_debug |
cache omr product |
cahe product |
